When it comes to college freebies, I've been dicked over.
6th college-iates got the free Palm Pilots when they arrived. I got a plastic Big Gulp filled with cheap tampons. Warren College grads got gift baskets. I got a crappy pen and wilted roses.
Now this:
Duke University in North Carolina will give students free iPods, an experiment to see if the devices help them be better students, IT Vibe said Wednesday.
The pilot study will cost the school more than $500,000 and result in 1,650 of the 20 gigabyte units being bought.
They will come loaded with Duke University data like the academic calendar, as well as faculty provided course content.
"We think the power and flexibility of these devices offer some real advantages over other media used to distribute educational content such as CD-ROMs and DVDs," said Tracy Futhey, vice president for information technology.
It's making me pout.
